Samuel Hahnemann, father of homeopathy, died in Paris today 170 years ago.

Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann né le 10 avril 1755 à Meissen, Saxe, Allemagne et mort le 2 juillet 1843 à Paris, est un médecin qui inventa l'homéopathie, en 1796.   Hahnemann et sa femme épousée quelques mois plus tôt quittent l'Allemagne en juin 1735 et arrivent à Paris le 27. En août, il obtient l’autorisation d’y exercer l’homéopathie (rue Madame, puis rue des Saints-Pères et enfin rue de Milan). Une cinquantaine de médecins exerçaient déjà l’homéopathie à Paris.   Lorsqu'il y meurt dans sa 89e année,  sa femme obtient l’autorisation de garder le corps de son mari jusqu’au 11 juillet, date de l’enterrement au cimetière de Montmartre. Ce n’est que le 24 mai 1898 que les restes d’Hahnemann furent translatés au cimetière du Père-Lachaise, à l'initiative du Collège Hahnemann de Philadelphie. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann (10 April 1755 – 2 July 1843) was a German physician, best known for creating a system of alternative medicine called homeopathy.
